Hispanic Heritage Month: A Celebration of Hispanic Business Owners

Hispanic Heritage Month runs September 15 to October 15, and for us it’s close to the origin story of this company. My father, Vicente, founded Dynamics Multilingual Services over 20 years ago, building a family business from the ground up in New Jersey. Twenty years later, we’re proud to be one of countless Hispanic-owned businesses that make up such a large part of the American economy.

Hispanic-owned businesses are one of the fastest-growing segments of small business in the country, and you’ll find them everywhere — restaurants, contractors, salons, law firms, tech startups, and yes, language services companies like ours. The numbers back it up: there are more than 5 million Hispanic-owned businesses across the U.S. today, generating an estimated $800 billion or more in annual economic output, and growing at a rate that far outpaces the national average for all businesses. That growth has held up across the vast majority of U.S. metro areas over the past several years. Each one of those businesses represents someone who took a risk, built something from nothing, and created jobs and value in their community.

This is also the time of year people celebrate figures like Rita Moreno, Sonia Sotomayor, and Roberto Clemente — leaders whose work opened doors across labor, law, sports, and science. Their stories are part of a bigger one: generations of Hispanic and Latino individuals building and leading, often against the odds.

So this month, we’re taking a moment to appreciate that — the small business owner down the street, the founder in our own family, and everyone who’s built something of their own. If you own a Hispanic-owned business, or know one worth celebrating, we’d love to hear about it.
